According to the results of 2018, the power generation companies of PJSC MOESK (part of the Rosseti group of companies) note the growth of electrical energy consumption in the area of its responsibility in the territory of the capital region. In total, in 2018, the company supplied almost 92 billion kWh of electrical energy to consumers in Moscow and the Moscow region. Compared to 2017, electricity consumption increased by 1.6 billion kWh, which is an increase of 1.8%.

The capital region is one of the fastest growing in Russia. Every year tens of thousands of new consumers are connected to the electric grid. As a result, the supply of electricity to the grid is growing. The growth in electricity consumption last year is also associated with the World Cup matches held in the region and the additional capacity requirements of sports facilities and infrastructure facilities of the competitions. In addition, temperature factors affected the increase in demand for power capacity - a decrease in outdoor temperature in February, March, November and December 2018 compared to 2017.
